I not Stupid too is a Singaporean movie. It was released on January, 26 2006. The movie tells a story about three teenagers who struggle through their lives.
Tom Yeo (played by Shawn Lee), and his younger brother, Jerry Yeo (played by Ashley Leong), are the sons of the very busy parents. They only communicate with their parents through notes stuck on the refrigerator’s lid. Their parents often scolds them whenever they don’t reach their parents’ expectations. Their mother, Mrs. Yeo (played by Xiang Yun) always asks them to study hard. Even though Tom is a talented blogger, and Jerry enjoys the performing art, Mrs. Yeo doesn’t acknowledge their talents at all.
Tom has a friend named Cheng Cai (played by Joshua Ang). Cheng Cai comes from a single parented family. His father (played by Yiliang Huang), is an ex-convict who always abuses his son. Actually, Cheng Cai’s father loves his son dearly. However, he doesn’t know how to show his love towards his own son. Cheng Cai always feel uncomfortable at home. Sometimes, he runs away from home when he can’t stand his father’s actions.
During a practice, Jerry is chosen as the lead role for his school’s musical drama. His teacher asks him to invite his parents. However, Jerry’s parents are super busy. His father once said that his time is worth for $500 an hour during his work. Jerry almost gives up on inviting his parents to come to the play. Then, he thinks of something to get some money. He stars to save money so that he can buy his father’s time.
Switching to Tom, during school, he is caught bringing a pornographic VCD. His teacher, Mr. Fu (played by Johnny Ng), confiscates the VCD. Cheng Cai provokes Mr. Fu by saying that as an adult, Mr. Fu must have watched something like this. Mr. Fu is angered and then it leads into a fight between student and teacher. Because of this incident, Cheng Cai is expelled from the school, while Tom must be punished by public caning.
Knowing that his son is expelled, Cheng Cai’s father tries to ask the school’s principal to give dispensation for his son. The principal (played by Selena Tan), who follows the regulations very much, decides that she can’t accept Cheng Cai back to school again. After being rejected, Cheng Cai many schools in Singapore to accept his son. However, there is no school that wants to accept his son.
After being expelled, Cheng Cai joins a gang that do criminal things. At first, they feel like the members of the gang are kind of their brothers. However, they betray Tom and Cheng Cai when they get themselves into trouble. At a time like this, their parents will realize that what they do is all wrong. The story progresses as the parents try to find a way to save their sons for the problem, and also try to change themselves to be better parents.
From watching this movie, the message that can be taken is adults should understand their children and students more. Children need attention, not only money, formal education, and scolding. They want to be heard by their parents and teachers. By scolding them using violence, they will feel that they are useless in front of their parents and teachers. Children also have hearts that will be hurt when the adults around them treat them badly. So, adults should care more about their children and students.

Overall, I not Stupid too is a really great movie. It holds a strong moral value, especially for educating children and for adults to understand children more. I recommend this movie to those who like comedy movie with a deep message in it. I hope everyone who read my review will find this movie interesting just like I do.
