Madness is a fiction story written by Mango Marble. The story tells about a woman who has a mysterious power in which that power will change her life forever.

Claire Farron is an ex-soldier who worked for military department named Guardian Corps. Two months prior to the current event, Sergeant Claire Farron was sent on a mission to an abandoned warehouse. Since then, she has been listed m.i.a (missing in action).

There is an infamous criminal gang led by Noctis Lucis Caelum, dubbed as The Prince. The gang is called as The Nightingales. Noctis abducted Claire in order to get information from her regarding PSICOM (Public Security and Intelligence Command), a military force that has a larger role than Guardian Corps.

At The Nightingales’ hideout, Noctis tortured Claire in order to get information out of her. Unfortunately for Noctis, Claire doesn’t give anything that he wants. She keep her mouth shout about the information, only saying things that shows him she prefers to be killed instead of giving him what he wants.

Later, it turns out that Claire is just like the criminals, possessing a mysterious power. Her mysterious power that enables her to control lightning. Since then, Noctis decides that she should help them to infiltrate the Guardian Corps. in order to get close to PSICOM. From that time on, Claire is dubbed as Lightning, just like her mysterious power. Claire has to agree since Noctis has threaten her using her sister as the reason. If she wants her sister, Serah Farron, to be safe, then Claire must agree to cooperate with them. Serah is her only family. She has lost her parents in the past. She has no other choice, Claire unwillingly agree to Noctis’ terms for the sake of her sister.

PSICOM’s leader, Jihl Nabaat is the one responsible for making The Nightingales members, including Claire, to possess such mysterious powers. She made them into test subjects in order to create super soldiers. However, her test subjects don’t like being experimented. Most of them ran away from the research facility in order to find a better life other than being test subjects.

Living her life as a criminal, Claire often doubts herself. She used to be a member Guardian Corps. to protect people, now she has to become a criminal that shouldn’t hesitate on killing others. The thoughts of Serah makes her sure that she has to do this no matter what. Knowing that Noctis is capable of killing anyone with his power to control various flying swords, protecting her only sister is the most important thing that she can do now. Noctis is usually cruel, however sometimes he shows his kindness towards Claire. Claire didn’t know at first which part of him was the real him. In the end, she knows for sure that he cares for her very much.

Bad luck sometimes gets on Claire’s side. There is a time when she get caught by PSICOM. Claire’s only hope is that the members of The Nightingales will come to her rescue. Of course, Noctis will never sit around knowing someone important to him being caught in danger. Whatever happens, he has to get Claire out of Jihl Nabaat’s hands. Twist of fate is waiting both Claire and Noctis to take part in it.

In my opinion, I think Madness is a very good story. It tells a drama/romance story in a different way, unlike any other story that usually feels kind of cliché. There are some kinds of violence in the story, yet it doesn’t stop me from reading this. Every cliff hanger in each chapter makes me want to know more and more about the continuation. This story is like a drama/romance story which is seasoned with some actions and character building.

From reading this story, I can understand that even bad people actually have good side within them. We can never label someone as a pure bad person. Everyone must have two different side. Even good people may also have their bad side, and vice versa.

Overall, this story is worth reading. For anyone who likes a drama/romance story with some action in it, I recommend to read this story. I hope everyone who reads my review will find this story interesting just like I do.
